Artist Biography
My work career has revolved around education, healthcare and government. Those years of varied
experience have tied together in my exposure to, and interest in, engaging people “where they are”. That
engagement influences my art as I work to produce “life tapestries.” My motivation and intention in
creating these illustrations, whether portraits of individuals or scenes that draw you to a space in time, is
that each piece will evoke an emotion from you. A feeling? A memory? My inspiration comes
from images that mirror my own hopes, fears, uncertainties, expectations. Sometimes raw. Sometimes
reflective. Always connecting the eye of the mind to the eye of the heart.
I strive to create a reflection of human spirit and nature's energy that mirrors reality. My purpose is to
give expression to faces and images that tug at my soul. It might be physical, emotional, or spiritual. Like
the “flip flop somersault” one feels when remembering their first kiss, or that pit-of-your-stomach twist
when you see injustice. And how about the awe and breath stopping views of nature? That is the intuitive
response I want my art to have for my clients.
As a young person I remember my dad, who was extremely artistic (fine woodworking, tailoring clothing),
took an art course by mail. It inspired me to start drawing with simple lead pencils. The three pictures
below were done in 1972. (Don’t do the math. )
