The Pacific Ocean is punishing on the rugged northwest coastline, and its lighthouses have served as
lifesaving navigational aids for seafarers spanning countless cultures and eras. But lighthouses also
symbolize the way forward through rough waters. They speak of safety, security, never-ceasing
watchfulness, steadfast endurance, grounding, illumination, hope. In the depths of darkness, they are a
compass of strength and resilience.
