Look in our hearts, Lord Christ, we pray
And face us with what’s true,
Who’re tempted to deceive ourselves,
Accepting as our due
A disproportion of life’s goods –
A wealth-distorted view.
You urged a straight and narrow way;
You call your folk to share,
Divest ourselves of Mammon’s grip
And for our planet care:
But we persuade ourselves of wants
Which little leave to spare. (continued)
