WCPI NATIONAL INDUCTION

          I

n her inaugural address, IWCPI National President, Ma. Pamela de Guzman, said that the new
theme, Lead the Change, was a reminder that in this rapidly evolving technology-driven age,
people, separated by vast oceans, could communicate with each other through the wonders of the
internet. Yet, still, a majority of the world's population lives in poverty, crime, hunger, drugs, and racial
hatred. There are tremendous unmet challenges in every community, and it is our task in Inner Wheel
to begin meeting challenges, even if we have to face them one at a time. We should start by educating
people because ignorance remains the number one roadblock to progress. As the Scriptures say, "Give
a man some fish, and he will live for a day. But teach him how to fish, and he will live a lifetime." She
added that in this Inner Wheel Year 2020-2021, members must renew their commitment to the Inner
Wheel creed, but this time with a new rallying cry "Lead the Change." The word change, she said, was
genuinely challenging with different interpretations and meanings for each one of us. She also said that
real change had to happen for the better, especially in these uncertain times of COVID-19.

For Inner Wheel year 2020-2021, National President Pamela de Guzman's
vision and goals meant going back to basics and on to the "new normal”.
          She outlined them as follows:
          • Work as a team with respect and commitment
 Enhance and promote our Organizations public image
 Retain Clubs memberships and target positive membership goals
 Charter new clubs with vibrant members
 Support IIWS social project for the care of women and girls
 Initiate new and creative club activities which can attract new
          members
 Conduct community projects focused on addressing and mitigating
the effects of the pandemic like livelihood projects and care for the
          environment
 Strong partnerships with other non-governmental organizations
          and local government units
 Consider adopting a community and focus its needs on food thru
urban gardening, shelter, health, and education
 Take time to seriously review or organization's history, vision,
mission, core values, traditions, best practices, and protocols
 Conduct for a of different topics that will help the members and the
community cope with new ways of working in this time of the
          pandemic
 Embrace and put into practice the Inner Wheel motto of friendship
          and service
 Continue our NDP/ECO/SOC and UN projects

She also said that one of the highest satisfaction in life was creating
something you truly believed in. Change makers should Lead the
Change now for a better world.

The virtual induction and handover ceremonies ended with a raffle
with cash prizes to the winners. It was viewed by more than 2,000 to
date. The event still runs at the Inner Wheel Clubs of the Philippines,
Inc.'s official Facebook page and the YouTube channel.
