A Family's Journey from Despair to Renewal: The Story of the Karamabalekars
Anant Karamabalekar, a senior Class I Officer with the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) under the Government of India, found himself watching his son’s life spiral into helplessness—an experience that would test the limits of any parent’s resolve.
About five years ago, Anant’s 25-year-old son began to exhibit hand tremors. At first, the family dismissed them as minor, perhaps stress induced. But as weeks passed, the symptoms escalated. The tremors spread to his legs and neck. His gait became unstable, his feet felt heavy, and a once bright young man employed at a bank was now struggling with basic motor functions. Eating, dressing, bathing, and even writing became nearly impossible. Within six months, he had no choice but to quit his job and confine himself to the house.
In a desperate bid to find a cure, the Karamabalekars consulted specialists in homeopathy, Ayurveda, and neurology. Ultimately, they began a treatment regimen with a highly reputed neurologist in Pune. A cocktail of three oral medications and one costly biannual injection helped stabilize the condition to a degree—but there was no significant improvement. Worse still, their son’s spirit seemed to wane under the weight of the disease. Mental fatigue, fear, and physical weakness overtook him.
Then, by what the family still considers a stroke of divine grace, they encountered Adhiyogi at a family gathering. Although Anant had known Adhiyogi for over 40 years, the two had lost touch for more than 15 of those years. On hearing about the situation, Adhiyogi offered to evaluate their son and see if Yoga could offer a path forward.
What followed was a transformation that bordered on the miraculous.
Adhiyogi began with a thorough evaluation and recommended a strict, customized regimen: one- on-one Yoga sessions every day, along with a complete overhaul of the son’s diet. The family had nothing to lose—and everything to gain. Within a week, they implemented the dietary changes. Then began the daily private Yoga sessions—each lasting approximately 1.5 hours— for the next 10 months.
The results were astonishing.
• The young man went from being nearly immobile to walking unaided within the house.
• Soon, he ventured outside and began taking taxis to Adhiyogi’s class.
• From barely climbing a few stairs, he progressed to climbing 40 floors daily within four
months.
• His stamina increased to three hours of Yoga per day, and his mental clarity and
confidence returned.
• Over time, he resumed full independence in his daily life.
• All oral medications were gradually eliminated, and for the past six months, he has only
taken a biannual neurological injection—which the family plans to discontinue. 110
