Resl’s Journey: From Austria to Italy –
A Student’s Devotion to Yoga with Adhiyogi
Resl Ianovich, a committed Nursing student from Austria, had her first encounter with Adhiyogi not in Europe, but in Mysore, India. It was a brief meeting—no more than an hour—but even in that short time, something resonated deeply. The calm clarity of Adhiyogi’s presence, the way he spoke about Yoga, and the genuine simplicity of his demeanor left a quiet but lasting impression.
Months later, as if destined, their paths crossed again—this time in Germany during a week-long Yoga workshop. Alongside another student named Phillip, Resl dove wholeheartedly into the study. The week was, in her words, “perfect and funny,” but also physically demanding and mentally invigorating. She asked question after question—on health, nutrition, philosophy, and yogic practices—and Adhiyogi answered with depth, patience, and joy.
When she returned home to Austria, Resl continued her practice with discipline and noticed how much more balanced and energized she felt. But when her nursing program resumed in September, the intensity of school began to take its toll. Stress crept in, and her yoga routine faltered. She felt the drain.
Still, she refused to give up.
Creating a small ashram space in her room, Resl placed Adhiyogi’s Ganesha book at its center. That symbolic gesture rekindled her focus. Though practicing alone without a guide was difficult, she leaned on the wisdom and strength gained during her time with Adhiyogi. “I know that with your words, I will find the balance again,” she wrote in a heartfelt note.
Seeing her sincerity, Adhiyogi invited Resl to study again—this time in Italy. Knowing she was a student with limited financial means, he offered her an extended period of training at a very low cost, honoring her dedication over any fee. In Italy, her learning deepened. Free from academic pressures and immersed in the natural rhythm of daily yogic discipline, Resl found her center again.
From a one-hour meeting in Mysore, to a transformative week in Germany, to a sacred period of study in Italy—Resl’s journey with Adhiyogi is a shining example of how true learning unfolds when both teacher and student meet with openness, trust, and perseverance.
OM Shantiḥ.
