Sayali Joshi, Sydney, Australia
Sayali Joshi had practiced yoga for over a decade when she realized that yoga was to be her life’s path. She wanted more than just physical training — she sought a teacher who could offer depth in yoga asanas, pranayama, and the vast realms beyond them.
In Adhiyogi, she found exactly what she was looking for. Through his teacher training, Sayali received not only technical refinement of her asanas but also an immersion into yoga philosophy and chanting that no book or recording could match. Her vague questions became precise, and she found clear answers, which illuminated her way forward — a path of personal embodiment of yoga philosophy and sharing it with others.
She noted several unique aspects of Adhiyogi’s teaching:
• Each class had a well-defined structure and smooth flow.
• Communication was clear, and all queries were addressed.
• Exercises were adapted to the level of the class, introduced step-by-step, and aimed at
perfecting the pose at whatever stage was possible.
• The emphasis was always on the benefits of the exercise rather than the mere name of the
pose.
• Core concepts like “observe from inside” were seamlessly integrated.
• Each class began and ended with prayer.
Sayali also valued the exposure to diverse groups of students during her training, which enhanced her teaching methodology. The experience enriched her understanding of yoga beyond the physical and prepared her to spread the joy of yoga wherever she went.
OM Shantiḥ.
