Hathayogapradipika 1.1: Salutations to the glorious primal (original) guru, Sri Adinath, who instructed the knowledge of hathayoga which shines forth as a stairway for those who
wish to ascend to the highest stage of yoga, rajayoga.
प्रण्य श्री-गरुु ं नाथं स्वात्ममारामेण योचगना ।
केवलं राि-योगाय हठ-ववद्योपददश्यते ॥१.२॥
Hathayogapradipika 1.2: Prostrating first to the guru, Yogi Swatmarama instructs the knowledge of hatha yoga ”only for raja yoga”, the highest state of yoga.
