दलु मभो ववषय-त्मयागो दलु मभं तत्त्व-दशमनम् ।
दलु मभा सहिावस्था सद्-गरु ोः करुणां ववना ॥ ४.९॥
Hathayogapradipika 4.9: Without the compassion of the true guru, renunciation is impossible, perception of the truth inaccessible and sahaja samadhi unobtainable.

यस्य देवे परा भक्तिः यथा देवे तथा गरु ौ ।
तस्यैते कचथता ह्यथामः प्रकाशरते महात्ममनः ॥ २३॥
śvetāśvataropaniṣat
23: Only the ones who have same devotion to Guru as for the God understand the meaning of the statements of the enlightened souls.
