Please read the Chapters 4 and 14 of the book, “Adhiyoga – Authentic Yoga System of Neel Kulkarni” by Dr. Neel Kulkarn. It gives a good idea of the concept of Karma and its relationship with the Human Life as well as the goal of Yoga. Also, probably the best work on Karma Yoga is found in Bhagavadgita. One should study the first 4 Chapters of this most respected philosophical work. The concept of Karma needs to be understood clearly.
4.1 karmayoge’anāsaktakāryam।
In Karmayoga, one does actions without attachment.
Karma means action. In the human life, it is impossible to avoid action completely. When an action is done, almost always there is an objective or purpose for that action. When the objective is not fully achieved or is not achieved at all, an average human gets disappointed. This is perfectly natural. Even if the objective is fully achieved, an average person is not fully
