(First Section) prathamaṁ prakaraṇaṁ - īśvarapraṇidhānavyākhyānam।
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
sūtra 1.1. atha nīlakaṇṭhaviracitāni īśvarapraṇidhānasūtrāṇi।
Now begin the īśvarapraṇidhāna sūtrās composed by Neelkanth (Dr. Neel Kulkarni)
This Sūtra indicates the composition is made for a special purpose. This purpose is to emphasize that the goal of Indian Philosophy including that of Yoga śāstra can be achieved only through Īśvarapraṇidhāna, total surrender to Īśvara. Īśvarapraṇidhāna appears in the Yoga Sūtra of Patañjali. However, Patañjali’s presentation is problematic as explained in the author’s book, Patañjali Code. This composition is made in Sūtra form so that the concept of Īśvara as well as Praṇidhāna would be stated as exactly and concisely as possible.
Practical Tips: 1. One should try to understand each word, each statement in the Sūtras and its commentary. 2. One should try to memorize these Sūtras and chant them regularly in order to contemplate on the meaning of them.
