sūtra 1.5. īśvarapraṇidhānaṁ nāma bāhyapūjāta: mānasapūjākaraṇaṁ
oṁkāraviśeṣabhaktimantrajapa: saguṇato nirguṇaparyantaṁ dhyānaṁ ca ।
īśvarapraṇidhāna consists of external worship, mental worship, devotional repetition of mantras especially including OM, and meditation on Form to the Formless.
It is obvious that each person has a unique mind and way of thinking. Thus, the actual conception of Īśvara in their minds also will be unique and different from each other’s. Not only this they will perform the Īśvarapraṇidhāna in different ways.
Generally, a human will try to conceptualize Īśvara with human physical attributes but combined with exceptional divine attributes. For example, a particular person may have Īśvara in the form of a very beautiful human form but with four hands containing items that have exceptional power. Another person however may object to īśvara having human form or any animal form for that matter arguing that omnipotent and omnipresent Īśvara must be without any limited form. Some may consider Īśvara in the Sound form stating that everything in the universe is made up of vibration.
