assured at one hundred percent level, the disappointment or lack of happiness is definite in all human activities at their final stage. (Yoga Sūtra of Patañjali 2.15). Only a wise person realizes this fact to the extent of his wanting permanent escape from this disappointment. Only such a person becomes spiritual aspirant or aspirant of spiritual liberation. During one’s efforts to perform actions to obtain happiness before becoming a spiritual aspirant, one realizes that the things are not fully under one’s control.
After becoming a spiritual aspirant, one tries various paths to get spiritual liberation. During these efforts, it is found that a very intense practice is necessary. But, even with intense practice, the results are not assured. Due to this the spiritual aspirant loses ego and surrenders to Īśvara.
All the aspirants may not go through intense practice, because they get influenced by the teachings of previous teachers and they surrender at earlier stage.
Let us consider some references from the world-renowned texts:
Haripatha of Saint Jnaneshwar: Yoga and Yaga paths will not lead to the final success in Spirituality (Moksha). It can be attained by only devotion to Hari (Īśvara).
