Municipal
The Municipal Government are local authorities created by the provinces and territories to
provide services that are best managed under local control.
Municipal Government includes Cities, towns, villages and rural or metropolitan municipalities.
The leader of our Municipal Government is John Tory.
Municipal Governments are elected by way of Municipal councillors.
Municipal councillors may be elected at large or by ward.
The Municipal Government is responsible for many areas such as libraries, parks, community
water systems, local police, roadway and parking.
They receive authority for these areas from the Provincial Government.
These elected councils make decisions that affect their local communities.
