meditation, yoga, or tai chi can help you to deal with the anxiety that you feel from your fears/phobias. ~Faith/spirituality- Faith/spirituality can provide a way of coping with everyday stress and anxiety. Plus, going to church and other faith groups can help to connect you with a valuable support network that could possibly help you to overcome your fears/phobias.
~Learn to calm down quickly- By learning how to calm down/control your sense of fear/panic of something or someone expeditiously, you can gain more assurance in your ability to withstand uncomfortable sensations and face your fears or phobias.
~Challenge negative thoughts about your phobia- By writing down the negative thoughts you have when you come into contact with your fear/phobia, you can challenge any obstructive ways of thinking you experience because of your fear/phobia to help you overcome your feeling of fear.
n summary, fear is something we deal with on a daily basis. Though it is often perceived as a bad thing, fear itself is not necessarily a bad thing; this is because it is an important survival mechanism that helps to protect and keep us safe from danger. But when fear becomes intense the cumulative/increasing effects and consequences can become extensive and ruinous to not only to ourselves but also to those around us. In today’s society a majority of the fears and phobias that we struggle to overcome are usually not physical or rational; fear of failure (Atychipobia), fear of
time(Chronophobia), fear of humiliation(social phobia), fear of ugliness(Cacophobia), fear of public speaking(Glossophobia), fear of the sun(Heliophobia), fear of confined spaces(Claustrophobia), fear of public spaces or crowds(Agoraphobia), and etc, and without an actual threat to acknowledging/answer to, the physiological and /or biological effects that this fear brings, could cause people to worry about, dread, feel upset by, and/or avoid the person, situation, or thing they fear because the physical impact of fear can end up being so intense that it causes the person to have a panic attack. Therefore whenever things like fear, phobias, or anxiety begin to drive/take control of our actions and thoughts (basically our lives), our reactionary ability is too compromised and we find ourselves scrambling/struggling to protect the illusions of security and safety that we have made for ourselves, thus preventing us from ever learning from experience, grow as a person and might stop our ability to gain courage, peace, acceptance, or joy. The influence of fear can be dangerous/damaging. It is even more important to understand that one can never run away from their fears no matter how hard they try because sooner or later their fear(s) will back them into a corner and then they will have no choice but to face their fears. So one of the most helpful skills of physical and mental health that we as humans can either learn or teach ourselves as well as others is how to face, control and overcome our fears and phobias.
