can be used for social games activities such as hide and seek and peek-a- boo. Cloth hangings, boxes with holes cut out and mirrors on the wall would be good decoration. Puppets can also be used in simple activities to attract the attention of infants and toddlers, as well as to develop their communication skills. Child-sized tables, stoves, refrigerators allow them to practise their social skills.
(e) Space for Creativity
This is a space for toddlers to use their creativity through art and craft activities. The space normally has low tables for play dough, thick crayons, nontoxic paints or finger paints. Low easels and brushes can be placed at one corner. Toddler can use this space for colouring or painting activities and experiment with colours and patterns. All creative works can be displayed on the wall or on the shelves.
(f) Space for Large Motor Skills Activities
The purpose of this space is to provide various activities to develop the ability of infants and toddlers to move their bodies and explore their environment. The floor space is designed appropriately so that infants and toddlers can move freely and be active with their peers. Play materials such as tunnels for infants and toddlers to crawl through, mats, balls of all sizes, objects that can be moved such as push and pull carts can be placed at this area to provide infants and toddlers many opportunities to make full use of their body muscles. Large empty boxes with holes cut out on the sides can also placed at this area to allow them explore and crawl through the boxes. Small stairs, short climbers, riding toys and a mini gym will provide many opportunities for infants and toddlers to enjoy physical activities.
(g) Reading Area
This is a space for reading to infants and toddlers and a place for them to reach books and look at them in comfort. It is also a special place that is designed for infants and toddlers to choose books that are attractively displayed and easily reached and „read‰ or be read to in comfort. Bookshelves that are placed at the eye level of small children are a good way to get the children busy with reading materials. Oversized floor cushions can be used with books stacked beside them to create a space to read and relax. An adult-sized couch for adults to read to them and a child- sized couch or chairs for infants and toddlers to „read‰ books also provide a great space for reading.
(h) Space for Feeding and Eating
Feeding and eating space for infants and toddlers is an area convenient for adults or caregivers to feed infants seated on their laps or in infant seats.
