In this animated slide we can see

that as the workload increases

due to increasing clients numbers,
the web tier will start to scale. As

the web tier scales and traffic on

the business logic tier (often
known as the application tier)

increases, it might also scale. The

possibility that the messages from
a single user get handled by a

different web server and/or

application server can be quite
high. This can lead to breaks in a

transaction. It is the job of the

ESB to keep things in order.
