More Agile: Continuous Deployment
Directly deploying to a production environment is not very
safe so a CD server will need a deployment environment in
which to deploy new builds. With frequent deployments
happening automatically it can be a struggle for operations to
keep up and it can be very expensive to keep infrastructure
spinning waiting for test work. This is an area where the rapid
deployment and pay on demand features of public cloud can
be very cost effective. It is estimated that more than 50% od
datacentre cost can be test environments and moving them to
the cloud can save a lot of money.
