Analysing unstructured data has made some of the most powerful

advances in business computing possible. For example, analysing a

users search patterns allows Google to offer information to

advertisers to target adverts to you more precisely.

Imagine a scenario where we want to know if our technical authors

are more productive working from home or from the office.

Stored on their systems is information about every time they

logged in to their computers, what files they modified and how

much was modified and stored. There is also information about the

IP addresses their machines had during these periods. By

correlating these two pieces of information we can work out how

much they achieve at home and how much they achieve at work.
