Reflux in Chemical Reactions
Water out
Condenser
◼ Reflux is a technique involves the
condensation of hot vapors which face the
cold surface of the condenser then return
back to the flask.
◼ A mixture of reactants and solvent is placed
Water in in a round bottom flask. This flask is
connected to a water-cooled condenser,
which is typically open to the atmosphere at
the top.
◼ The flask is heated in order to conduct the
Round bottom reaction by thermally accelerating it.
