Writing H-NMR report
1
1. Write the type of 1D-NMR experiment & the solvent.
2. DMSO peak at 2.5 & 3.3 ppm & CDCl3 peak at 1.6 & 7.2 ppm.
3. Write the chemical shift (with two digits in a descending order).
4. This is followed by (splitting pattern & J coupling constant & no. of protons).
5. The device power is 400 MHz or 100 MHz as mentioned in all examples in this practical
part.
6. In case of singlet peak (s) and multiplet peak (m) there is no J coupling.
7. In case of a multiplet peak (m) the chemical shift is written as range (from the highest
identified chemical shift of the peak to the smallest identified chemical shift) (e.x: 3.42-
3.21).
1 H-NMR report:
¹H NMR (DMSO) δ 13.34 (s, 1H), 8.68 (dd, J = 8.0, 2.2 Hz, 1H), 8.50 (dd, J = 4.2, 2.2 Hz, 1H),
7.15 (dd, J = 8.0 Hz, 4.2 Hz, 1H), 3.98 (t, J = 8.0 Hz, 2H), 2.58 (t, J = 8.0 Hz, 2H), 2.22 – 2.15
(m, 2H).
