                                               SO20202 GLOBAL PERSPECTIVES

                Level M.1  Semester 2                                                       40 periods : 1 credit


                       The learning area of this course is aimed at innovating and stimulating skills-based programme that
               can be used to explore current issues and develop vital skills. Provide the students an opportunity to
               explore  the  perspective  of  cultures,  both  familiar  and  unfamiliar,  form  their  own  personal  opinion  to
               opinions of others on the other side of the world. All whilst developing their critical thinking and research
               skills.  Moreover, student will develop their ability to think critically and creatively, to research efficiently
               and effectively, to collaborate and work well with others, to present their ideas to others. Also develop to
               open-mindedness and learn to consider issues from other perspective, express their own opinions on issues
               of global importance, gain an independent world-view and become global thinker, and learn how to inform
               others, raise awareness and take action on issues to develop their thinking skills towards the 21st century.

                       The teaching procedures introduced in this course focus on perspectives about an issue under
               investigation and analyze them exploring causes of action, analyzing and evaluating the quality of the
               source  of  evidence,  take  part  in  a  discussion,  debate  in  class,  answer  questions  and  synthesize  the
               information,  filling  gaps  and  checking  sufficient  evidence  that  supporting  arguments,  setting  goals,
               developing strategies, and outlining task schedules, planning is part of life, relevant information to use in
               asking questions and information for learning about things, how to do it and making decisions for solving
               problems. These topics can include wide range of issues, and student will be able to explore each topic in
               a way that suits their own areas of interest.

                       The course also enables students to instill the desirable characteristics, including to be successful
               in  the  world  that  they  live  in,  seeing  and  understanding  how  the  world  works  and  how  we  are  all
               interconnected through trade, media, the internet, travel and politics. Broadening their sense of normal,
               their idea of how to interact with others, seeing a company operate in different regions of the world. All of
               these things are hugely beneficial to being employable in the 21st century, and being healthy and well-
               balanced.

               Learning Outcomes
                   1.  Analyze the process of globalization by using different theoretical perspectives and debates on a
                       broad range of issues (including issues of dependence and interdependence);
                   2.  Demonstrate an understanding of the world from a specific non-U.S. and non-Western European
                       viewpoint.
                   3.  Identify the main idea, analyze the essence, interpret and express opinions from listening to and
                       reading texts.
                   4.  Recognize topic-based vocabulary and develop strategies for working out the meaning of words by
                       studying contextual clues or word formation.
                   5.  Identify the main points of the argument and the supporting details and examples and distinguish
                       fact from opinion.
                   6.  Employ skimming and scanning skills to locate the information required.
                   7.  Use correct basic grammar, use punctuation and use correct spelling for common words.
