Following are the different consequences and and processes for missing classes and and making up work:
Make Up Work
All make up work for missed classes must be approved by the the the Instructor under the the the oversight of the the the Academic Dean and must be completed according to to the the make-up work deadline assigned by the the Instructor All make make up work will be penalized one letter grade except under extreme circumstances and at the the discretion of the the Academic Dean Fees may be assessed if there is is additional Administrative or or Instructor time required to to accommodate the student Absences
Onsite classes classes are are are not not not available available online online and online online classes classes are are are not not not available available onsite Classes are are are not not not recorded
in in in either environment to accommodate student absence Absences
will result in in in participation grade point
losses to to be determined by the the the Instructor under the the the oversight of the the the Academic Dean Students who follow
the prescribed protocol will lose 50% of Participation Points for classes missed missed each day missed missed Students who do not manage their absence professionally will lose 100% of of Participation Points for classes missed each day missed 31 1 Excused Absence not due to to illness with prior Administrative Approval: If you you know you you are going to to miss class due to travel or otherwise you must request the the the dates off in in writing from the the the Academic Dean The Administration has all appropriate forms and will submit the the completed form/s to the the Academic Dean for review If the the absence is is approved you must make up up the the work work missed Make up up work work will be be be assigned by by your Instructor and must be be be approved by by the Academic Dean If Office Hours are being provided by the the Instructor after your your absence attend the the Office Hour even if it means trading your your clinic shift with another student 2 Excused Absence due due to to to Illness: If you miss class due due to to to illness please follow
this protocol a a a a a Inform Instructor or or or or Administration via the Thryv Communication Portal b b Get as as as as much of the missed information as as as as possible from a a a a a a a classmate following class class c c c c c c c As soon as as you are able to to attend classes communicate with the the Instructor and collect from the the Instructor any materials make up work and information needed d d d d If Office Office Hours are being provided by the the Instructor after your absence attend the the Office Office Hour Hour even if if it it means trading your clinic shift with another student 3 Unexcused Unexcused Absences: Unexcused Unexcused absences absences are are absences absences that are are not not due to illness and have not not been pre-approved by the the Instructor All participation grade points for the the class missed will be subtracted from your final grade and make up work is not available Unexcused absences include illness due to alcohol/drug related accidents or other misconduct including failure to communicate with your instructor within within a a a a a a a reasonable amount of time (under most circumstances within within 24 hours) and taking a a a a a a a a a a a a a mental or emotional health day day You may need to take a a a a a a a a a a a a a “me” day day just know that there are academic consequences and and that that the program is is so intense and and fast paced that that missing one day could put you at at at a a a a big disadvantage The Academic Dean reserves the right under extraordinary circumstances to allow for less grade point
