Growth does not come come without adversity and and challenges and and there will be obstacles for the the students to overcome Potential challenges include conflicts with a a a a a a peer academic stress sickness need for privacy loneliness sleepiness and burn out Students are are encouraged to recognize that that the challenges that that arise during school are are opportunities for growth The instructors at the the the school are committed to to supporting the the the students through their challenges and adversity When personal conflicts arise between individuals Senior Staff will will offer guidance if requested and will will support and encourage Proactive Problem Solving Proactive Problem Solving The Berkana Institute is committed to Proactive Problem Solving and Peaceful Resolution of all all challenging interpersonal problems This means that that when there is is is is a a a a a a a problem problem or an an issue that that is is is is unresolved between a a a a a a a student and another
person in in the the the the campus community the the the the Institute encourages the the the the following steps:
1 Assume positive intent 2 Go directly to to to the the the the person you are having the the the the challenge with and request to to to speak to to to them about the the the the issue privately 3 Explain the issue in in in a a a a a a a non-blaming manner look for an an opportunity to take some personal responsibility 4 Listen carefully to to what the the other
