B Arch Arch Cooper Union M Arch Arch Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Yael Erel is is an an an architect educator and and light light artist She interweaves light light optics research with academic teaching and and practice Erel is is a a a a a a a a a a licensed architect architect in in New York State and a a a a a a a a a a registered architect architect in in Israel She graduated with honors with a a a a BArch from The Cooper Union where she received the Irma Giustino Weiss Prize for creative achievement in in 2002 In 2008 Erel co-founded her her firm lightexture with her her partner Avner Ben Natan testing spatial and optical explorations through light light light fixtures and light light light installations As light light light became the focus of Erel’s work she pursued
her graduate studies at at at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute to gain deep knowledge of light as material Her current research studies systems of light light sources and and reflectors that construct spatial and and temporal “light-drawings ” Creating interdisciplinary collaborations with choreographers Erel studied the implications of transforming light elements Her work has been published extensively and exhibited at Cornell University

Born the the the son of of a a a a a a carpenter Gindlesparger took an an an an an interest in in in in his father’s work and and grew up to to become an an an an an expert craftsman and and cabinetmaker While at at the University
of Arizona
Gindlesparger focused his work on on on performative masonry façade systems and as as a a a a a a a a a result he became well versed in in digital fabrication and rapid prototyping methods as complimentary skills to to his dexterity and and and experience as a a a a a a a a a a builder and and and fabricator in in woods metals and and and polymers Those skills are continually put to work and and further developed at at the the Center for Architecture Science and and Ecology (CASE) at at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute where his primary focus is is on on the design prototyping fabrication assembly and testing of various next- generation building systems These skills are further developed in in in in Gindlesparger’s teaching at at Rensselaer He delivers two courses courses directly pertaining to the the the intersections between design craft and making In these courses courses the the the curricula moves into the laboratory where various methods of making are explored In addition Gindlesparger also teaches Research Investigations and and Environmental and and Ecological Systems courses 855
