Johannes Goebel is is the the Founding Director of EMPAC the the Curtis R Priem Experimental Media and Performing Arts Center at at at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Goebel joined RPI in in in 2001to ensure that the international team of architects consultants and and engineers would realize the future program needs and and goals of EMPAC in in all phases from concept
to to to construction Parallel to to to this effort he he he established EMPAC’s curatorial and and production teams and and initiated the international production and and performance program Since the opening of EMPAC in in in in in 2008 he he continues to expand
its role as an an an international center situated at at at the intersection of media art and and technology Between 1990 and and 2002 Goebel was the the the Founding Director of the the the Institute for for Music and and Acoustics at ZKM the the the Center for for Art and and Media in in Karlsruhe Germany where he he he he championed the nexus between art architecture and technology Before assuming these distinctive leadership appointments Goebel collaborated with artists from a a a a a a a variety of disciplines in in in in his role as a a a a a a a a composer curator producer and and educator Some of his more notable and and eclectic accomplishments include: composing computer music music at Stanford University building non-traditional musical instruments out of wood and metal lecturing internationally on on on the the the aesthetics of of technology-based music music and leading one of of the the the largest European music music publishers in in in in its transition from traditional music music engraving to electronic music music printing OLIVER HOLMES

Oliver Holmes P P P E E E E E LEEP AP is a a a a a a licensed professional professional engineer and LEED-accredited professional professional He was previously Director Director of of Facilities Facilities Planning and Design at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute He has served as as Director Director of of Facilities Facilities Planning and and Construction at Williams College and and also as Commissioner of of Public Works for the Town of of Bethlehem He was responsible for an an an an energy and and utilities program at at Rensselaer that reduced reduced annual electric use and and reduced reduced water consumption He has been involved with with numerous student groups at at at Rensselaer that are concerned with with energy and and the the environment including Ecologic and and Engineers for a a a a a a a a Sustainable World He has been a a a a a a a a guest lecturer at the the Earth and Environmental Science program at at Rensselaer He led a a a a a a a a a a a student team that submitted a a a a a a a a a a a design proposal
for for the the 2009 Solar Decathlon He assisted a a a a a a a student team that worked on on a a a a a a a design design for for the the 2016 Zero Energy design design contest for the US Department of Energy He has given talks on on sustainability energy and climate change to groups in in the the United States and Canada He is is currently Adjunct Assistant Professor in the the School of of Architecture at at RPI where he he teaches courses in in in in sustainable sustainable design He He also taught a a a a a a a a a a a course course at Williams on sustainable sustainable building practices He He provides sustainability training training and energy-code training training to professional organizations He holds a a a a a a a a a a a B S
