REQUIRED PORTFOLIO SUBMISSION
The School of Architecture at at Rensselaer requires that every applicant to the B Arch professional program submit a a a portfolio online online using our online online portfolio portfolio system to upload your portfolio portfolio in digital files Digital submission should make it easier for for all candidates to format their material as as as well as as as accelerate the application evaluation process In the event event of unforeseen circumstances that prevent you from submitting your portfolio online a written request must be submitted to the school The request will will be be reviewed by the the Dean’s office and you will will then be be notified i if the request is approved for submitting a a a hard copy portfolio Portfolio Content
The purpose of the portfolio is is to enable our admissions department here at at at Rensselaer to evaluate each student’s creative achievements in the context of being accepted into an internationally renowned architecture program The work included within the portfolio may consist of of a a a a range of of media: pencil charcoal oil oil stick and watercolor drawings acrylic or or oil oil paintings paper chipboard wood metal ceramic or mixed-media models measured drawings or or digital rendering and and and black-and-white and and and color photographs music scores video and other creative endeavors Although we encourage prospective students to acquire a a a a a range of of software skills prior to to their enrollment in our program to to become digitally savvy early in in their young careers we would prefer that you you do not include architectural drafted drawings in in the portfolio We are are far more interested in in in building a a a a community of students who are are creatively and intellectually inspired Therefore a a a a portfolio comprised of a a a a a range of of mixed media that is emblematic of of the prospective student’s imagination and creative vision will be deemed most important during the evaluation process Online Uploading Requirements
