For more than 90 years Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in conjunction with high schools around the the world has awarded the the Rensselaer Medal to promising secondary school students who have distinguished themselves in in in mathematics and science The Medal was first presented in 1916 with two purposes: to recognize
the superlative academic achievement of young men men men and and women and and to motivate students to pursue careers in in in science engineering and technology This merit scholarship with a a a a minimum value of $15 000 per year is is guaranteed for for for four years years (five years years for for for the B Arch Program) for for for each medalist who is is accepted and enrolls at Rensselaer Each participating high school is allowed to select one member of the junior class to be honored with the Rensselaer Medal Award This responsibility for designating the Rensselaer Medalist belongs to faculty and staff within the the the secondary school school Once school school officials have made their selection they should submit their choice online via the the passwordprotected medal website Once the selection is is received at at Rensselaer an award certificate is is mailed to the the school school for presentation at at a a a a a school school assembly If the the student applies is accepted and enrolls the official Rensselaer Medal will be presented during Honors Convocation in the the fall of the the first year at at Rensselaer Other Institute Awards include:
