WHAT’S ON
As the 2015/16 season reaches its final quarter we are all left wondering when will the Monsoon Weather relent so as to allow us to start to play rugby again. Over the prolonged and wettest winter in living memory fixtures have regularly been cancelled leaving
us with an unwelcome backlog.
The final quarter will be one of the busiest periods of the season for our Senior and Youth teams.
Traditionally this period is also a busy one for our Mini teams with our own Mini Tournament on Easter Monday and numerous other end of season tournaments and matches.
So there is plenty of opportunity to get out and support our players as can be seen from the fixtures below:-

LOTTERY UPDATE
On 13th March 2009 a group of members initiated a Club Lottery entitled, “Light Up Lotta”. The title gave a clue as to the main purpose of that Lottery. At the time the Club was looking to fund the erection of floodlights at Parc de Pugh.
In the first week of the Lottery 448 tickets were sold and over the Year the Floodlight fund received a total of £8,930 from the Lottery. By the time Floodlights were finally erected in February 2011 a total of £15,105 had been raised and this together with Donations from the Club’s Vice Presidents and a loan from the WRU paid the full £60,000 required to pay for the project.
At that time it was decided to continue with the Lottery to pay off the WRU loan and to provide funds to extend full lighting onto the 2nd pitch. So the group continued up to the present time and with a grant from the WRU full floodlighting was finally completed in the Autumn of 2014. By now the lottery had contributed a grand total of £38,036 towards the lighting project. However, with the
completion of the project and after
6 years of hard work the number of volunteers diminished as did the weekl
returns. The average sale per week now w
totals just £70. Fifty per cent of that total, £35 goes to the club, £25 of the remaining sum goes in weekly prize money and the remaining £10 gets added to the prize fund total.
It is clear that unless something is done e
then the Lottery is no longer worth the e
commitment of a dwindling band of organisers.
If the Lottery is to be continued then it needs a new impetus and with the club looking to provide a fit for purpose Fitness Suite the Lottery is being re-launched as a “Muscle Up for Lotto.” Standing Order
forms have been prepared and are
available at the Club or from Ron
Rowsell
(ron.rowsell@btinternet.com).
They are also being circulated
amongst players and parents with
an aim of, generating an annual income into the
Development Fund of, at least £8,000. That sum together with Donations from
Vice Presidents and other fund raising events could enable us to fund the erection and to kit out, a functional Fitness Suite which will be open to all members of the Club.
If this venture is to be successful the Club needs your support, so please sign up for the re-vamped Lottery, help the club and give yourself the chance of winning up to £10,000.
