Explore the mews and hidden side streets of this postcard market town, discover its secret archways and cobbled lanes of independent shops, fashion and gift boutiques, antiques, galleries and book stores. Uncover excellent eateries, peruse the specialist foodie outlets and browse the weekly markets on Tuesdays and Saturdays in the majestic Grade 1 listed Market Hall in the town centre.
Steeped in history and heritage there are several notable buildings of interest within the town; St Katherines and The Masters House circa 1231 and 1485 re- spectively, recently renovated and a rare surviving example of a hospital complex is now Ledbury’s library.
The much-photographed cobbles and medieval buildings of Church Lane include Butchers Row House Folk Museum with memorabilia worn in the Battle of Ledbury (1645), the Heritage Museum, and a mysterious Painted Room; its walls painted with frescoes by an unknown 16C artisan.
The wonderful annual Poetry Festival attracts nationally celebrated and rising poets for ten days each July embuing the town with creativity, passion and verse.
Much Marcle & towards Hereford
The nearby village of Much Marcle is home to Westons Cider, Newbridge Farm Park and its wonderful animals and play barn, and gothic Hellens Manor.
