Presteigne
On the ‘English’ side of Offa's Dyke, due to its capture by the Mercians from the Welsh, Presteigne was the original county town for Radnorshire, until Llandrindod Wells tookover the title. Crammed with historic buildings, exploring the Town Trail is fascinating.
Annual festivals include the Food and Flower Festival and the Festival of Music and the Arts. The Vintage Sports Car Welsh Trail known locally as ‘the Old Crocks’ is held every year, thrilling spectators with their amazing vehicles and hairy hill-climbs.
The popular monthly Farmer’s Market
is filled with superb local artisan produce. With a good choice of pubs, coffee houses, art gallery, antique shops and a fabulous deli, Presteigne is a place to relax, shop for that unique gift or simply enjoy its beautiful scenery.
Knighton
This friendly ‘Walkers are Welcome’ is also known as ‘The Town on the Dyke’ as it is the only town which lies on the line of the famous Offa’s Dyke, and is the home of the Offa’s Dyke Centre.
