Our on board audit and training team have assessed, trained and mentored crew from a large range of yachts this year ranging from a 30m, to a number of 120m and Royal yachts, some with over 70+ crew members on board on each. The team have worked with interior and deck teams, to raise standards of service, etiquette and management and leadership at all levels, developing bespoke training to meet specific requirements.
The numbers say it all; our 2018 intake already exceeded over 400 students and by the end of the year
we will have welcomed, trained, certified and accredited over 192 pursers, 235 M&L students, 1200 service students and over 900 specialist students since we started the academy.
In terms of our placement team at The Crew Hunter, we are now placing crew and staff at a rate of over 350 per annum and are gearing up capacity, with the opening of a small London office, with the aim to place over 500 individuals per annum into numerous roles across the entire luxury service industry.

The Future bodes well for the team at The Crew Hunter as they will continue their great work focusing on assisting professional crew keen to move on and upwards in their career in the yachting industry. In addition, they will looking at how to assist senior crew in transiting between the sea and land and applying their skill sets at the end of their careers to other industries and opportunities. This means our TCA students and Crew Hunter clients can move between yachting and land-based roles, guaranteeing them a secure future, natural career progression and recognition of their transferable skills.
Our many partners have been key to the success of The Crew Academy and Crew Hunter and it’s been with their constant support that we have been able to grow as an organisation.
We would like to make a special mention to Joey Meen from GUEST and Andy Crawford from the PYA, who have constantly strived to push forward mandatory certification for the interior department of yachts; and with GUEST moving over and being managed by IAMI we know that Joey’s goal will soon be achieved and a set standard across all yachts will be achieved.
I would finally like to thank personally the awesome and inspiring team at The Crew Academy, led by Sophie, Alex and Becs, and the tremendously hard-working ladies at The Crew Hunter, led by Milica; who have all, over the last year strived to exceed the level of service and training that we offer to our students and clients. It has been their boundless energy, hard-work and commitment that has been the driving force behind our success.
Two of our team are heading off on maternity leave in the coming months and we wish them all health and happiness with their new families, while we welcome our new trainers, including Butler-extraordinaire Mathieu Barbe and our new Purser trainer Natalie and Interior and Service trainers; Sarah, Sarah and Marc.
