Fishmonger Trailblazer Apprenticeships
well underway with supermarkets
Multiple retailers and independent fishmongers in England have taken up the Level 2 Fishmonger Trailblazer Apprenticeship, with almost 100 apprentices currently registeredandworkingtowardstheir2019targetdatesforEndPointAssessment. The take up of apprenticeships by independent fishmongers has been slower to gain traction but interest, and registrations are building.
The Fishmonger Trailblazer Apprenticeship is generously funded at up to £12,000 per apprentice. £12,000 may seem like a great deal of money to invest in a single apprentice, but when the vast range of skills, knowledge and behaviours a successful apprentice will need to exhibit during their end point assessment is considered, it becomes apparent that this level of funding is essential for employers to be able to develop these highly skilled individuals.
A fishmonger apprenticeship programme should take between 12 to 24 months to deliver. During that time the employer will use some of the funding to commission an on programme training provider to deliver most of the training needed. The employer themselves will be able to deliver some training, and in the case of a small independent fishmonger the employer could deliver a large part of the skills and knowledge training required. But all employers should make use of an on programme training provider to assist with programme administration and much of the other training, and to ensure that the apprentice is ready for their end point assessment. Employers that train their own staff can use some of the funding available to cover their costs in doing this.
The end point assessment takes place only after the employer, the apprentice and the on programme training provider are confident the apprentice is ready. The end point assessment is a detailed series of tests that consist of a knowledge test, extended practical observations and a professional interview. These all take place during the 12 week assessment window at the end of the apprenticeship. End point assessments are carried out by independent end point assessment organisations and the whole process is overseen by Ofqual.
General Data Protection Regulation – GDPR
New Regulations are now in place – Don’t get caught out!
Under new guidelines any Company that holds data regarding its customers is obliged to inform them of this.
The General Data Protections Regulation (GDPR) is a ruling intended to protect the data of citizens within the European Union. The GDPR is a move by The Council of the European Union, European Parliament, and European Commission to provide citizens with a greater level of control over their personal data.
After several years of refining and debating, the regulation was officially approved by European Parliament on April 14, 2016. The EU has allowed a two-year transition period for organisations to reach compliance. As of May 25, 2018, heavy fines will be levied against any business who does not meet the guidelines set forth by the GDPR.
Who will be affected by the GDPR?
The GDPR has far-reaching implications for all citizens of the European Union and businesses operating within the EU, regardless of physical location.
If businesses hope to offer goods or services to citizens of the EU, they will be subject to the penalties imposed by the GDPR. In addition, any business that holds personal data of EU citizens can be held accountable under the GDPR.
What sort of data will fall under the General Data Protections Regulation?
