This section covers aspirational and major projects which are expected to become significant economic drivers for creating jobs, skills opportunities and challenges throughout the region of South West and Mid Wales.
Consultations with relevant project representatives and desk based research was undertaken to collate all of the information presented in this section. Much attention was given to convey each project as accurate as possible at time of writing, and this information is considered current. Projects change on a regular basis and it’s likely that a number of the projects mentioned in this section will change in the coming months and years. The purpose of this section is not to confirm anything, but to serve as a guide to help determine what our future priorities should be in addressing potential skills gaps, by highlighting the aspirational projects anticipated throughout the region.
The projects mentioned in this section are anticipated to take place in the Swansea Bay City Region (Swansea, Neath Port Talbot, Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire) and in the Mid Wales region (Ceredigion and Powys).
Reference is also made in this section to the Swansea Bay City Deal projects and the Mid Wales Growth Deal, which are considered prevalent drivers of economic growth throughout the region.

The Swansea Bay City Region Economic Regeneration strategy represents an ambitious strategic framework to support South West Wales and its future economic development.
It is a forward leaning strategy that proactively charts a better economic future for the City Region and its citizens. It connects and articulates complex economic, social and environmental needs at the city region level, whilst also recognising that wider policy thinking at the level of Wales, the UK and EU will also impact greatly on the City Region’s future direction.
