GAN GADEIRYDD
FROM THE CHAIR
Er Gwaethaf Pawb a Phopeth
Ni Yma o Hyd! Ymlaen Y Porthmyn!
When I wrote these notes for last year’s programme I referred to a period of change for the Premiership league and we now know that the 18/19 season could be the most crucial period for the Drovers since the adoption of the national league structure.
At the end of this season four clubs will face automatic relegation and the fifth team will enter a play off against the Championship winners. So regardless of the other planned changes from a funding perspective (which I will keep for another occasion) we look forwardtoahighlycompetitive seasonwith, atlast, homeand away fixtures against every other premiership club and everythingtoplayfor!
As ever our coaching team have been very busy during the “off season” reviewing our squad, recruiting new players andworkingwithagrowing bunch of young players that have been associated with our extended squad over a number of years so that they become established players for the
new season. For the 2018/19 season it is good to see that we potentially have a number of players who have also progressed from our Youth XV to join our first XV or in deed the Scarlets Academy.
Lets hope that all our young players, wherevertheycome from, take theopportunityto contribute to the great rugby, and more importantly the great styleofrugby, thathas characterisedplayat Church Bank over recent years. I make no apology for repeating a sentiment I expressed last year in that I am sure that all our supporterswilljoinmein saying that we look forward to more of the same please! More of the passion, commitment, determination, flair, skill, speed and strength that has brought
us some great successes over recent seasons.
Finally once again thank you to every of our sponsors. Without your support we would not be able to maintain the development of rugby across all levels and age ranges which has become synonymouswithLlandovery. Alsoafurthermassivethanks to all our supporters, members and volunteers who turn up weekinweekoutinsupport oftheDrovers.Diolchameich cefnogaeth.
Can I thank our Board of Directors, staff, volunteers, coachesandplayers forall their hard work and support – diolch yn fawr!
