BRECON RFC
CLUB WEBSITE
www.breconrfc.co.uk
I hope that all our readers make use full use of our website. I understand that many groups within the club have their own social media sites
and they are the rst port of call
but I would encourage everyone to make use of the site which also links directly with the Club’s Facebook and Twitter Accounts. We are trying hard to ensure that xtures, results, reports and photographs from all our teams are included and where teams are making positive contributions to the site, we are achieving that.
I would also encourage everyone to Sign Up if you have not already done so. Not only will that allow you to view Mini and Junior Photographs but it will also give you access to the new email resource. At present we are trialling that system with our Vice Presidents group. Like myself, almost all of the group spent most of their lives
without computers and sometimes remembering names is dif cult so Passwords are a real trial and yet the majority have managed to join the system and are now receiving regular club News, Results, Updates etc. If the trial is successful then we will extend that to other teams, groups within the club. Eventually the hope is that this system will take over from my email communications to members and players. I would therefore, even at this early stage, encourage all of you to Log On and at least join the communication system as a Member so that when a majority have joined then I will switch my main means of communication from my personal email account to the website account. Prior to doing that I will give everyone who is unsure about what is required, detailed directions on how to Sign Up. It is perhaps interesting to note that the highest number of visits to the site normally occurs during the 24 hour period, Sunday evening to Monday evening, when new reports and pictures are posted.
Lyn Parry Second XV Manager reports on a mixed start for the Second XV this season...
BRECON RFC
SECOND TEAM REPORT
The Second XV has enjoyed a mixed start to their campaign this year. The squad lost a couple of experienced players in the off-season and we struggled over the rst few weeks of the season. This coupled with a few silly mistakes, which the opposing teams capitalised on, resulted in us losing our rst couple of league games from winning positions.
Under the new coaching team of Jason Rooza and Richard Smart the Second XV lost their rst 3 league matches against Llantristant, Porth and Ynysybwl but lately the results have improved and we recorded our rst league win away at Llantwit Fardre. We followed that up with and outstanding cup win away at Beddau and then an equally impressive win at Bedlinog as the season reached the Christmas Break.
As well as the League xtures we have played 3 friendly matches all against local opponents Builth Wells, Crickhowell and Gwernyfed winning all 3 to achieve bragging rights for now but
I am sure the opposition teams will be out for revenge on the return xtures.
One of the biggest positives of the season so far has been the introduction of a couple of last year’s youth players who have all contributed in a positive way in all matches so far and hope- fully will continue to do so. Also there have been a few players returning to playing rugby after taking a break from the game, which is also a positive going forward. This season has also seen the promotion of a couple of players into the First XV set up which again is a major plus for
the second team set up and proves how important it is to have a second team playing regular matches.
As long as everyone continues to improve I am sure that it will be another successful season for the Second XV and the Club.
