Chapter 22:
The Verdict
Eric stood before the audience, his presence
commanding attention. The debate had been fierce, the
arguments passionate. But as he began to speak, it was
clear that he had a verdict to deliver.
"Let's face it," he said, his voice firm and resolute.
"The world is a complex and often scary place. But by
teaching our kids to shut up and avoid strangers, we're
not keeping them safe – we're crippling them."
He paused, scanning the crowd. "We're raising a
generation of kids who are afraid to take risks, afraid
to ask questions, and afraid to connect with others.
And that's a recipe for disaster. So, I want to round the
evening off by talking about the power of chance
encounters. We've all been taught to be cautious
around strangers, and rightfully so. Our personal
