NICHOLAS BOOTHMAN
child born in the west in 2024 should, on average and
barring unforeseen accidents and medical traumas, live
to 107. But they won’t, for three reasons: the limiting
beliefs they hold through their self-talk, the influence
of the people they surround themselves with, and their
reluctance to take risks. And it's not just about living
longer, it’s about living a life filled with purpose, joy,
and lucky breaks. When you cultivate a positive
mindset, surround yourself with supportive people,
and take calculated risks, you become a magnet for
chance encounters and lucky breaks. You start to notice
and seize opportunities that others might miss, and
find yourself in the right place at the right time, again
and again.
The lucky breaks that seem to come out of nowhere
are often the result of your own intentional choices.
The way you explain your experiences to yourself,
your self-talk, has a profound impact on your
decisions, your health, and your happiness. Telling
yourself that you're always unlucky, that you’re not
worthy, or that things will never change can create a
self-fulfilling prophecy.
I’ve met plenty of people who say, "I’m unlucky.”
