Where Do We Go
from Here?
You now have a host of tools for making con-
nections with and getting your ideas across to
clients, peers, and prospects, but there’s one
last piece of hard-won knowledge that I’d like to pass along.
Treat each connection you make as if it’s the most impor-
tant one you’ve ever made. Because it may be. I say this
because I know it’s true.
Several years ago, my then fourteen-year-old daughter,
Kate, told me that a new aromatherapy store had opened in
our local village, about ten miles away from the farm where
we live. She asked me if I would take her to see it.
While Kate was exploring the place, I struck up a conver-
sation with the owner, Alexandra. She told me how she had
come to open the little store, and then asked what I did for
a living. I was just launching my first book at the time.
