Preconceived Expectations
We can’t stop ourselves or others from making snap
judgments about people, but we can learn to see beyond
what meets the eye. Don’t get lost in what a person looks
or sounds like, or even old misconceptions of what you
think they’re like. Remember what you want, and stay
focused on your outcome.
Personal Space
Respect people’s space. Getting too close to another per-
son can trigger their fight-or-flight response. Unexpected
intrusions are bad for rapport, especially if they come as
a surprise.
