LESS STRESS: MORE YES
She knew what Mark would say. "It's for a good
cause, Billie. Great networking opportunity."
Guilt. That was the weapon. The guilt trip. It
wrapped around her like a constricting vine,
whispering doubts and obligations.
You should do it. It's the right thing to do. You're a
good person, aren't you?
She closed her eyes. Three deep breaths. The 60-
Second Stress Buster. It helped, a little. But the guilt
lingered.
She thought about her Trigger Point list. The
Perfection Trap. The Guilt Trip. They were a deadly
combination.
She wanted to be a good person. A helpful person.
But at what cost?
She opened her email again. The invitation stared
back at her.
She had a choice.
She could say "yes." Succumb to the guilt. Add
another layer of stress to her already overflowing plate.
Or she could say "no."
The word hung in the air, small but powerful. A
two-letter declaration of independence.
