personnel. "Can you come and give this talk to my staff/
students/teams?" they each asked. "Not the photography
bit, the rest. The connecting with people part."
That night, I told Wendy, "I'm going to be a
speaker." When I woke up the next morning, she asked
me, “Do you still want to be a speaker?"
"Passionately."
"What makes you think you've got what it takes?"
"Well... I guess I have a way with words."
"You can be very persuasive." She said. "What else?"
"I'm pretty fast on my feet."
"So you're persuasive and flexible. What else?"
"I think I've found a fresh way to approach a popular
topic."
"So, if you were hired to do a photo shoot of a speaker
with an audience, what would you do?" She asked.
"Simple, I'd book space at a local hotel, hire an actor,
and invite a bunch of people to come and listen."
"So, what are you waiting for?"
By noon, I'd rented half of the ballroom at our local
Holiday Inn and invited a bunch of friends, clients,
models, and advertising agency friends to come and hear
me talk about Rapport by Design, a souped-up version
of the talk I gave to the photographers.
