NICHOLAS BOOTHMAN
paused, shaking her head with sudden force. "But
Tomaz is not crazy."
It wasn't just a confession; it was a plea.
"I had to get it to you, so I wrote them down and
memorized them in English.”
She took a deep breath, and as if reciting a sacred
prayer, she spoke the words that had been etched into
her memory for years. Her voice was steady, rhythmic.
"Navigate the currents of life with grace and resilience;
embrace the unknown with open arms, for there is magic in
the unknown. Find beauty and meaning in the simplest of
moments, and know that each circumstance that comes your
way is part of a perfect plan to transform your purpose into
tangible reality."
Tears began to trace paths down her cheeks, but she
didn't seem to notice. "For my whole life," she continued,
"I had forced my feelings away, kept everything locked
down. But after reading those words, it was like a switch
had been flipped. Suddenly, I noticed things—the color
of the fishing boats, the sound of the gulls, the warmth of
the morning sun."
She finally wiped at her eyes. "These are tears of joy,"
she clarified with a watery smile. "Because one morning,
not long after, I was walking on Fisherman's Beach, and
I saw her. Hazel."
