Two more lines, and I flew out of the closet like a
kangaroo. ”Shakin‘ all over!”
A lot can change in a day, and for me, that day was a
turning point. When things seemed bleak, a few simple
words sparked a chain reaction of magic moments that
transformed my life. I was searching for love, but instead,
I stumbled upon a passion for music. I’d auditioned for a
band, and before I knew it, I was not only singing but
also landed myself a girlfriend - or two!
I aced the audition in Lisbon. We spent the next year
and a half living the dream. We traversed the country,
playing in clubs, on campuses, recording jingles, and
having the time of our lives in the tourist invasion.
The sun-kissed Algarve coast was our playground for
the summers of '68 and '69. José scored three-month
gigs at "The Pescador", a swashbuckling nightclub in
Albufeira that was the epitome of cool.
