The room quieted again.

For a second, nobody moved.

The markets reopened the next day. Cautiously at first.

Institutions adjusted. Lawyers rewrote disclosures. Banks learned to speak in narrower sentences. Executives stopped promising what they could not prove. The system did not heal, but it resumed movement.
People called that recovery.
Henry knew better.
Three weeks later, he received an anonymous message. Coordinates.
A time.
No explanation.
Jinji told him not to go.
Claire told him not to go alone.
Vincent didn’t answer his call.
Henry went alone anyway.
The industrial district sat at the edge of the city, beyond the polished towers and official recovery. Warehouses. loading docks. broken streetlights. murals faded by rain.
