Carolina hesitated, eyes drifting toward the
fogged window. “Sofia said those words once,” she
murmured. “Before the collapse.”
Henry looked up. “Sintra?”
She nodded. “Locals said the hills lit white, then
went silent. She was gone when they reached the
site.”
Jinji stopped pacing, phone half-raised. “Light
and silence,” she repeated.
“Her choice,” Henry said quietly. “She finished
what we began.”
He stepped away from the window. His palm
pressed flat against the spiral.
“Because they were never encoded externally.”
Jinji stopped pacing. “Then where?”
His voice was low, as if the mist itself might
overhear. “They were tested once. On a live subject.
The trial was buried.”
Carolina leaned forward. “You’re saying
someone went through the full sequence?”
Henry nodded. “And survived.”
“Who?” Jinji asked.
He looked up. “Me.”
