Vincent looked at Jinji, then Claire on the screen, then Henry.
“I thought I could stay in the room and argue for mercy. I thought that mattered.”
“It does,” Henry said. Vincent shook his head. “Not enough.” “Vincent...”
“The road to hell, Henry. You know how it’s paved.”
He walked to the door.
Then stopped.
“When you make truth a price of admission, the safest people will always look the most honest.”
The door closed behind him. His collar remained on the table. Henry’s phone buzzed.
The screen lit by itself.

She took it from him.
