“Yes,” Logan said. “If calling it mercy makes you feel cleaner, fine. But don’t lie about the lie.”
That silenced her.
He looked at Henry.
“You need money that can move outside systems Verax watches. Server space. shell entities. legal cover. physical hardware routes. Safe communications. You need someone who understands the gray areas because that’s where your precious clean system is going to have to live.”
Claire shook her head.
“He’s a fixer.”
“Yes,” Logan said.
“He’s the kind of man who made your career possible, Henry.”
“Yes,” Logan said again.
She glared at him.
“Stop agreeing with me.”
“I can’t afford to pretend anymore.”
The patch behind his ear glowed faintly green. Henry noticed.
So did everyone else.
Logan reached up and touched it. “I put it on before I came.” “Why?” Henry asked.
