law is but an expression of His own character,
and John’s mind was opened to an
appreciation of the principles upon which the
government of God is established. There was
the temple where the Father sits enthroned,
Himself the center of all law, all life, all love;
His presence pervading all things, upholding
all things, controlling all things. The temple
was to be measured, and when measured, it
told the story of absolute love, the power of
the Creator, who made all beings to reflect His
own perfection. Then John was to measure the
altar. Here he saw the High Priest, with His
censer, offering the prayers of His saints. Only
the Infinite mind can grasp the breadth and
length and depth and height, and know the
love of Christ which “passeth knowledge”; but
