by our rendering him praise for the things he
has done for us, as well as by our
acknowledging through prayer our need of his
help. Let Daniel’s course be our example in
this respect. Let no mercy from the hand of
God fail of its due return of thanksgiving and
praise. Were not ten lepers cleansed? “But
where,” asks Christ sorrowfully, “are the
nine?” Luke 17:17.
Daniel had the utmost confidence in what had
been shown him. He did not first go to the
king, to see if what had been revealed to him
was indeed the king’s dream; but he
immediately praised God for having answered
his prayer.
Although the matter was revealed to Daniel,
he did not take honor to himself as though it
were by his prayers alone that this thing had
