               Chronicle of July 9, 1881, reported a meeting


               of  three  thousand  persons  in  Liverpool  in


               favor of closing all public houses on Sunday.


               The Christian Statesman of July 22, 1880, gave


               information from England to the effect that a


               “Working-man’s Lord’s-day Rest Association”


               had  been  formed  there,  and  that  two  of


               England’s prime  ministers,  Beaconsfield  and
